Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026 · Draft
The short version. Right now this website collects one thing: your email address, if you join the waitlist. We use it to tell you when Anyone Here? launches. We don't sell it. You can ask us to delete it anytime.
This policy explains what Anyone Here ("we," "us") collects when you visit this website or join our waitlist, and what we plan to collect once the Anyone Here? mobile app launches. Questions? Email rankinsn@gmail.com.
1. The website and waitlist (live now)
What we collect
- Your email address, only if you type it into the waitlist form.
- Basic technical information that your browser sends automatically when you load the page or submit the form, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of your visit.
Why we collect it
- To email you about the launch of Anyone Here? and closely related updates.
- To keep the site working and protect the form from spam and abuse.
Who handles it
- Formspree receives and stores waitlist submissions on our behalf. See Formspree's privacy policy.
- Our web host (Netlify) serves this site and may keep standard server logs.
- Google Fonts loads the typefaces on this page, which means your browser contacts Google when the page loads. See Google's privacy policy.
We don't sell your email address, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Cookies
This site doesn't set cookies for tracking or advertising. Our service providers may use limited technical storage needed to deliver the page.
2. The Anyone Here? app (planned)
Anyone Here? lets adults check in as single at a bar, event, or venue and see others who checked in there. To make that work, the app is expected to collect:
- Account details: your first name, age, and a short bio.
- Photos: the profile photo you upload, which other people checked in at the same venue can see.
- Verification selfie: a selfie we compare to your profile photo to confirm it's really you. This involves processing facial features, which some laws treat as sensitive biometric data. We'll ask for your explicit consent first and describe how long it's kept.
- Precise location, only when you check in: to confirm you're actually at the venue. Other users see the venue you checked into, never your exact coordinates or home address.
- Check-in activity: which venue you checked into, and when you checked in and out.
- Messages you send to other people checked in at the same venue.
- Reports and blocks: reports you make or that are made about you, and who you block.
- Device information: push notification tokens and basic device details, so we can deliver notifications and keep the app secure.
How we plan to use it
- To run check-ins, show who's at a venue, and deliver messages.
- To verify profiles and keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and removing accounts that break our rules.
- To send notifications you've allowed.
- To improve and secure the app.
Who you share information with
Other users who are checked in at the same venue can see your profile photo, first name, age, and bio. Messages go only to the person you send them to. We use service providers for hosting, photo moderation, identity verification, and notifications, and they may process your data only to provide those services for us. We may disclose information when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
Retention
- Check-ins expire automatically after a few hours, and chats close when either person checks out.
- Content that has been reported may be kept for a fixed period (we expect about 90 days) so we can review it, handle appeals, and respond to legal requests, even if it's later deleted.
- You can delete your account at any time, and we'll delete your profile data except where we must keep it for safety or legal reasons.
3. Who can use Anyone Here?
Anyone Here? is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
4. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for certain purposes. To use any of these rights, or to be removed from the waitlist, email rankinsn@gmail.com. We'll respond within the time the law requires. Every launch email will also include an unsubscribe link.
If you're in California, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete, and correct your information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell personal information. If you're in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No online service is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
6. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
7. Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, such as the app launching and collecting new data, we'll notify waitlist members by email.
